As he grew older, his drinking progressed through familiar stages: “It went from a social fun thing to… I was a functioning alcoholic to then it became unmanageable.” Despite maintaining a full-time job, the facade of control began to crumble. “I thought that I had all my stuff together… but it got to a point where it was affecting my job. I was being drunk on the job.”
Hitting Bottom: Health Crisis and Relationship Loss
The consequences mounted: a long-term relationship ended, he lost his house, and his health deteriorated to the point of experiencing withdrawal seizures that required hospitalization. These crises led to his first attempt at treatment at JourneyPure in March 2023.
